Maps – You Don’t Know Her Name

I really can’t say enough good things about Maps, so rather than go into details (I may do in a later post), just listen to this…

Boards of Canada – Dayvan Cowboy

Stumbled across this track by a long night clicking through ‘influenced by’ links on Wikipedia (great way to find new bands by the way). An electronic ambient tune that begins with a dreamy guitar riff that could easily be filed under ‘background music’ on first impressions, but wait for the gear shift 2 minutes in and you will realise why I’m writing about this track.
With echo’s of Zero7 and Lemon jelly mixed with great strings complimented with confused clashing symbols, the song seems too hectic to be classified as chillout. I would say more ‘uplifting’.
Can’t wait to listen to the rest of the album and indeed their whole back catalogue… (spotify is a little slim on BoC tracks so try YouTube for more.

For a bonus, also check out their song ‘Roygbiv’ on spotify, It’s amazing how this track brings imagery of cassette tapes, 80’s cartoons and those documentaries you were made to watch at primary school. (for me anyway).

Starting from now.

Starting from now, hitpod.co.uk will be an outlet, a vent, a release.

An outlet for what? for music. Music that I think you should listen to again and again and again.

For a while now, I have felt the need to tell people about the music I listen to – I hear a track, could be old or new, and feel compelled to try to get everyone hearing it. Recently I have heard so many simply brilliant tracks that Facebook status updates expressing my liking will no longer suffice.

Starting from now I will be posting tracks, with reasons why I’m addicted to them and where possible a Spotify link to it. If you haven’t heard of Spotify then firstly shame on you, and secondly here is the link… http://www.spotify.com/

Spotify - Its awesome.

Right – first post on the way….
